There is no
question that Geoff Muldaur is an extraordinary talent,
what a voice, and the guitar, well... fabulous! The
2004 season kick off was all we had hoped for and more.
Turns out Geoff Muldaur also has a great wit and is very
funny, he treated the audience to some very enjoyable
stories throughout the performance. While staying at a
nearby cottage, Geoff discovered an old banjo on a shelf,
the banjo became an unexpected part of the performance.
Geoff's assertion that he couldn't play the
banjo was, clearly, not true! It was a big night out for
the old cottage banjo!
The folks at North Country public radio were a huge help
and instrumental in the success of this event, thank you
to Mike Alzo, Bob Sauter, Joel Hurd and all our other
friends at NCPR. We are thrilled that a recording of
"Geoff Muldaur, live at The Edwards Opera House"
now exists.
The house was packed, the nearly sold out crowd was, as
always, wonderful! The Opera House's shortcomings, not enough restrooms and
no elevator (yet)
were tolerated with patience, thank you to all. One kind
visitor reminded me that even at huge modern concert halls
and stadiums "you still have to wait in line for the
restroom"
Geoff Muldaur loved the painted back scene so much that he
asked our photographer to email a photo of it to his home.
I guess they didn't have a backdrop depicting cattle at
the gig he played last week in Tokyo!
We are excited about the remaining fourteen dates on our
calendar and hope we are presenting shows that will appeal
to many tastes. Visit us again.
On behalf of the all-volunteer Edwards Arts Council, Inc.
Thank You,
Brigitte Clark
